I love the quirky and unusual things you discover when traveling. One of those little gems is the Time Travel Mart in Echo Park, Los Angeles. I went by there on my way to the Old Zoo in Griffith Park – it was an eerie day anyway as you can see, so on my way back I stopped by that little shop with the funny slogan “Whenever you are, we’re already then”. When entering it, I was greeted by the friendliest shopkeeper ever and even though the shop isn’t that big, it took me a while to wander around it, as the selection of things you can get there is amazing.
There’s for example the grocery rack with fresh Dinosaur Eggs, Mammoth Chunks and Robot Milk. If you’re there, make sure to read the funny descriptions of the products. For example the Robot Milk: “The family-owned Jupiter Farms has been milking robots for nearly 700 years and has never allowed any bottle sold to contain a single organic compound. 100% lactose- & dairy-free.” What it really is, if I remember correctly, is bathing salt.
Then you’ve got souvenirs from time traveling, such as a portable wormhole, bottles of dead languages, helmets, something called “pastport”, old video cassettes and stuff like that. You can also buy clothes and accessoires, such as a Mammoth Chunk tote. I really loved browsing through the short aisles and went out with a supply of fresh dinosaur eggs, band aids depicting Edgar Allan Poe (and saying “Hurt poe more”) and some books. I highly recommend paying the Time Travel Mart a visit; it’s so funny, you don’t wanna miss it!
