SherLockd Room Escape Vienna

It was one of these days: We had something to celebrate as a family so we decided to do something special together. Well, something that’s more special than just gathering and having a coffee. As usual it was on me to come up with an idea. As the rest of my family never had done a room escape before and I just can’t get enough of that stuff, we agreed on doing that. Even though I assume that by now everybody knows how escape games work, here are the outlines of it: You’re locked into a room and have to find your way out within an hour in order to win the game. To do so, you have to solve little riddles and crack some codes. It’s a lot of fun for everybody who is into riddles and into playing, so room escape games are a huge success. I don’t know how many we have in Vienna by now, but I sure have done a fair amount of them, for example the Mystoria Room Escape. So this time I opted for the SherLockd Room Escape in Vienna’s  14th District.

As you might have guessed, you (and your folks) are Sherlock, the famous detective, trying to defeat the ticking clock; there are two different rooms, Sherlock I and Sherlock II. We played Sherlock I. And the cool thing here is: The room is not really easy, you’ll need some brains to get out of it in time. Also, it’s not only time that’s coming after you, it’s also the room itself. Cause it’s getting smaller and smaller if you wait too long and don’t solve certain riddles in time. But don’t worry, it’s not like it would hurt you, it’s some sort of fake ceiling, cause sure enough we had a hard time getting out of the room in time. The ceiling came down until we had to crouch down, but sure enough when we solved some more riddles, the ceiling moved upwards again.

We really tried our best but couldn’t escape the room in time. But we sure had a blast and spent some quality time as a family. We connected in a whole new way and decided to do another Room Escape soon again. I highly recommend doing SherLockd if you’re in town, because of course you can also play it if German is not your first language (or any language to you). You’ll be perfectly fine knowing basic English as well.
