Again, it’s been some time since you heard the last time from us. Or rather “read”. Our sincere apologies for that. As some sort of consolation we would like to share our best kept hotel secret for Austria’s capital Vienna with you guys. We’re talking about the small boutique hotel Das Tyrol. It is located behind a not very impressive facade of a house directly off the famous shopping street Mariahilfer Strasse.
As soon as you enter the lobby through the sliding glass doors, you’ll find yourselves in another world. A red carpet leads through to the onxy reception desk where a lovely member of staff will be waiting with a broad smile for you. They will not only show you up to your room, make arrangements for you but are also a main source when it comes to useful tips regarding the surroundings of the hotel.
Due to its location it is the ideal home base for all visitors who would like to see not only the shopping area but also the old parts of the city, all the museums – just everything. Vienna is small, Das Tyrol is somewhat in the middle of it all so no matter where you would like to go, it is the perfect place to start your journey. Never forget to get an awesome breakfast first though. In the small but stylish and elegant breakfast room you’ll sit on red and plushy chairs while eating from golden cutlery. No kidding! You should definitely try the Eggs Benedict. I believe they were called “Eggs Franz Joseph” though, after the late emperor (and Sisi’s husband).
The whole hotel is outfitted with only the finest of materials, such as golden tiles and Dyson hairdryers in the rooms, you’ll find huge smart TVs in your room, rainshowers, amazing beds, coffee makers and cosmetic products. The walls are lined with amazing pieces of art, the staff is extra friendly and you only have to bat your eyelids and somebody will be at your service. One of the many highlights of the hotel is the spa area downstairs, as it’s a private one. You just have to tell the staff at the reception when you’d like to use the saunas and steam bath and it’s all yours for the time being. How amazing is that?
As Das Tyrol is a luxury hotel we would like to recommend it to all the travellers who are on the search for something special and romantic. You’d want to get the corner room on the top level, as it features a balcony and grants views towards the inner parts of the city. We highly recommend it, as you should be able to tell by now. Room rates start around 155 Euros per night.
